Tim Sturges
Tim began his career as General Assistant at Battery Studios, however his informal experience and passion for recording extends back to his days as a student at Middlebury College, working and learning the art of recording with his friends in dorm rooms, stair wells and elsewhere around campus. After graduating in 2003, Tim supplemented his self-taught engineering knowledge with formal instruction at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. It was not until joining Battery Studios in 2005 that Tim was able to truly immerse himself in the experience of working and mixing in a world-class facility. Benefitting from the exposure to some of the recording industry's finest engineers and equipment, Tim's experience at Battery also helped him to develop his skills as an engineer.
He was fortunate to work with artists such as:
- The Roots
- Leona Lewis
- Busta Rhymes
- Rihanna
- Talib Kweli
- UGK
...And producers such as:
- Stargate
- Jermaine Dupri
- The Trackmasters
At Battery Studios current mastering facility, Tim developed a new appreciation for audio engineering by learning how to accurately reproduce, capture, and process historic recordings for re-mastering and re-release. His experience with a wide array of recording formats, combined with his aptitude with industry-standard mastering software such as Magix Sequoia and Steinberg Wavelab, has earned him the attention of reissue producers who desire the highest quality reproduction. He has worked on reissue projects for notable artists such as Michael Jackson, John Lennon, and Luther Vandross, and many more.
Tim continues to look forward to meeting the challenges of the evolving recording industry by continuing to serve his clients with his attention to detail, and dedication to excellence in professional audio mastering.
